Bridging the Gap: From Proven Energy Innovation to Commercial Scale
29–30 September 2026 | IET Savoy Place, London
Why do so many promising energy technologies struggle to reach commercial scale?
Across the energy transition, a technology can perform successfully in a pilot or demonstration and still face barriers around financing, insurance, first customers, regulatory confidence, technical validation and access to new markets.
Bridging the Gap: Energy Innovation Deployed, taking place on 29-30 September at IET Savoy Place in London, has been created around that challenge.
With DNV as Official Host Partner, the two-day Summit will bring together technology developers, investors, corporates, insurers, government bodies and commercial partners to address the different conditions needed for successful deployment.
The programme will explore these challenges across the deployment journey, bringing perspectives from technology, finance, risk, policy and industry into the same conversation.
The people needed to move energy technology forward – in one room
Across two days, the programme brings together perspectives from industry, finance, government, technical assurance, risk, innovation and commercial offtake, focusing on what it takes to move proven energy technologies from pilot and demonstration through to commercial scale and global deployment.
Who will be in the room?
The speaker line up includes:
- Joseph Chakra, Middle East Regional Head, UK Export Finance
- Seb Henbest, Global Head of Climate Transition, HSBC
- Tim Lord, Head of Climate and Energy, HSBC
- Richard Riley, Chief Commercial Officer, New Energy Risk

- Jay Russell, Business Development Manager, CPI
- Jason Breslaw, Head of Low Carbon Fuel Business, Trafigura
- Mohamad Kantar, Managing Director, Kantar Advisory Partners
Together, they bring perspectives across capital, policy, technical assurance, risk, commercial offtake and technology deployment.
What is on the programme?
The programme will explore the practical challenges that determine whether promising technologies successfully reach commercial deployment, including access to capital, managing risk, building technical confidence, securing commercial demand and creating the right conditions for scale.
Alongside the sessions, delegates will have opportunities for curated introductions, networking and direct conversations with organisations operating across different stages of the deployment journey.
The Summit will also bring the Energy Technology Deployment Blueprint into the discussion, drawing on insight from across the ecosystem to explore how the evidence and trust required at each stage of deployment can be built more systematically.
